A serving police officer has become a person of interest for detectives in their investigations into the disappearance of former Channel Ten presenter Jesse Baird and his air steward boyfriend Luke Davies.
After police inquiries, a witness led police to investigate a third person for their possible involvement.
It has now emerged the person of interest is a NSW Police officer with detectives yet unable to contact him.
“Police are currently trying to locate him,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Detectives will continue to look at all past relationships and associations.”
Nine News reported Baird had alerted his friends about being stalked.
The Daily Telegraph has revealed the police officer in question has a romantic history with Baird.
The couple has not been seen since earlier this week and their bank accounts have not been active since the weekend.
On Sunday, Baird and Davies appeared jovial at a Pink concert, with images posted to Instagram.
Police hold grave concerns for the pair after uncovering their clothes and belongings in a skip behind a club in Cronulla on Wednesday.
Among their clothes was at least one mobile phone, credit cards and other items belonging to both men.
Davies had visited Baird at his home in Paddington on the night they vanished, with police discovering a substantial pool of blood at the home after their discovery in Cronulla.
According to neighbours, Baird was last seen exiting his multi-million-dollar terrace house in Paddington on Monday night, moving furniture.
Signs of struggle were evident during forensic investigations with specks of blood found on the furniture.
Both Davies and Baird have not been able to be contacted since the discovery.
The family of Davies reported him missing on Tuesday.
NSW Police Eastern Beaches Commander Detective Superintendent Jodi Radmore said in a press conference on Thursday afternoon investigators were not ruling out any possible circumstances and the pair’s final movements were still under investigation.
“Witnesses during the canvas yesterday reported some shouting on Monday, earlier in the morning,” she said.
Three cars belonging to the couple, two reportedly belonging to Baird, were seized from the property and will be subject to testing.
Anyone with information about Luke Davies and Jesse Baird’s whereabouts – or who may have information relevant to the investigation – should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
