A 28-year-old NSW Police officer will be charged with the murders of TV personality Jesse Baird and boyfriend Luke Davies, with detectives revealing a projectile found at the bloodied crime scene in Paddington had been “physically matched” to the cop’s gun.
Beau Lamarre, 28, handed himself into Bondi Police Station on Friday morning after an appeal for the former celebrity blogger in connection to the missing person’s case.
Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad told a press conference on Friday afternoon two murder charges had been submitted.
The bodies of both missing men have not yet been located.
Lamarre will be formally refused bail by police and is expected to face court either later on Friday or on Saturday morning.
Police had conducted searches of four locations in connection to the disappearance of the missing couple: A residence in Balmain, Mr Baird’s sharehouse in Paddington, Mr Davies’s home in Waterloo, and a skip bin in Cronulla where the couple’s bloodied possessions were found on Wednesday.
Detective Superintendent Doherty revealed detectives searching the crime scene in Paddington found “a projectile at the premises which had been discharged and also a fire cartridge case”.
“This has now been physically matched to a NSW Police firearm and forms part of the evidence for the alleged facts to face court for this 28-year-old man,” he said.
“The discharge of the firearm in a house in Paddington has been matched to the 28-year-old man’s firearm however we still have to establish what the cause of death is and that’s why we need to find not only for our investigation but mainly for the family, where the location of the bodies are.”
Detective Superintendent said there was a “large amount of blood” at the property.
The 28-year-old had been in a previous romantic relationship with Mr Baird, who was last seen with his boyfriend leaving his Paddington home in Monday night.
Earlier on Friday it was revealed the police officer allegedly at the centre of the couple’s disappearance was snapped with Kourtney Kardashian in Sydney last week.
According to reports, Mr Lamarre was spotted outside the house Kardashian was staying in at Sydney’s Bellevue Hill, attempting to take a photograph taken with her.
Mr Lamarre was reportedly considered a “celebrity blogger” back in the day, where he would attend red carpet premieres and get his photo taken with famous stars like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
Pictures showed Mr Lamarre posing next to Gomez wearing a red tuxedo back in 2012, while another captured his arms wrapped around Cyrus.
Constable Lamarre reportedly deleted his Instagram account in recent days and took sick leave from work.
He has worked for state police since 2019.
