Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says wages have “grown really substantially” for the first time since 2009.
Ms Plibersek says Australians have seen three-quarters of “wages growth”.
“This is the equal highest since 2009 wages growth,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Families will really be appreciative of that.
“Inflation has been really taking a hold on family budgets.
“Ordinary working Australians are going to be thankful for the fact that their wages are going up.”
