Taylor Swift’s first of four shows in Sydney has been delayed due to wild weather concerns.
Swifties took to social media to share vision of thousands of concertgoers being evacuated from the dancefloor over fear of lightning strikes near Accor Stadium on Friday.
Stadium staff are seen ushering raincoat clad Swifties to cover as ominous clouds threaten a washout.
An unofficial account providing information and updates on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour re-issued an alert sent out by Accor Stadium on X, relaying to Swifties to “stay sheltered”.
“Please note, due to weather, show start time has been delayed,” the statement read.
“Stay safe and remember to be kind to those around you.”
More than 80,000 Swifties were expected to cram into the stadium ahead of the show with Swift originally scheduled to take the stage at 7:30pm.
Swift’s support act, Sabrina Carpenter, was meant to start at 6.20pm.
Many of Swift’s fans spent hundreds of dollars to see her on Friday, with some tickets exceeding $1,200 as part of her “It’s Been A Long Time Coming Package”.
It may be even longer as showrunners are yet to provide an update.
Some fans have linked Swift’s boyfriend, Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, as the cause as “every time” he’s travelled to see her perform a show gets cancelled.
“We are gonna have to start calling him bad luck if this happens again!” one fan said.
