USSC Foreign Policy and Defence Director Professor Peter Dean says in the short term, Australia is going to see a bit of a “hit to naval capability”.
“In the short term, what we’re going to see is a bit of a hit to naval capability,” he told Sky News Australia.
“This is just the lived reality of the fact that we have had over a decade of no changing decisions or capabilities that haven’t been able to be produced on time and on budget.”
This comes as South Australia has come out on top in the Navy’s surface fleet review.
With the work now secure, the focus turns to finding the workforce to get the ships on the water.
