ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Two teens are facing charges in a fatal crash that killed a construction worker on Friday in south St. Louis County.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges against 18-year-old Deondre Robinson, of Oakville, and 18-year-old Patrick Aten, of Lemay. Both teens are charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault. Robinson was also charged with operating a vehicle on a highway without a license.
Both are being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
Police responded around 10:35 a.m. to the 9900 block of South Broadway in South St. Louis County, where a Cadillac had crashed.
According to a St. Louis County Police probable cause statement, both Robinson and Aten were racing each other at a high rate of speed down South Broadway when Robinson lost control, spun and hit two workers.
One construction worker, identified as 34-year-old Christopher Johnson, of Dittmer, was pronounced dead at the scene; another worker was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.
St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons detectives and the Accident Reconstruction Unit are handling the investigation.
